Thanks for the welcome Comet and Ansgar Thegn. I swear you've had a different name on every site you frequent! Do you not like having a consistent online identity? I thought tea was a standard requirement on entry? Perhaps coffee is more your thing? Rochester cathedral is good for church history as it has a range of different architectural styles from Saxon to Norman. Thanks for the heads up, I'll let Von know everything's ok. Who's the chap in your avatar btw? but I'm a soft drink and alcohol kinda guy. Make of that what you will A penchant for booze and a Conservative Party membership card are the two prerequisites for a potential C of E vicar. For todaysh shermon,,,,,Lol

Thanks for the welcome Comet and Ansgar Thegn. I swear you've had a different name on every site you frequent! Do you not like having a consistent online identity? I've been going by Thegn Ansgar, or Ansgar Thegn for a while now actually. Basically when I join a forum if I don't already have an existing username I'm using, or I don't want to be associated with another username I might have, I give it a change. Usually to something that's currently piqued my interest at the time (like when I was Beowulf, or Yue Fei, or using my real name on SOSZ). Also has relation to my signature. Harder to track if people don't know you.

Well, I don't have a Conservative members card, Von. I'm not so sure that the stereotype of 'Tory party at prayer' is still as true as it used to be.
I feel like you lost ground on that when you used your real name on SoSZ, Ansgar.

I was just pulling your leg a wee bit and I agree that the 'Tory party at prayer' has been consigned to the dustbin of history along with when 'Squire and Parson rule the land'.

Welcome aboard, Sun Fin! I'm also a theological studies major. I'm most interested in Church history as well, especially the history of the Catholic Church in post-Reformation England. That being said, I have two majors... The other one is in history, focussing on England between 1660-1690. I'm also an Anglican, so hopefully we can have many fruitful conversations in the future! Welcome Sun Fin, I look forward to discussing historical and theological stuff with you. We've so many beautiful churches in England, in fact I'm not sure if the CofE even know where they all are. There was/is a programme in effect to find all the old ruins iirc. It also means I can say 'more tea vicar?' and actually have a vicar friend to say it to. By the way, a while ago someone I know went out partying as a Catholic priest. Would that be considered as a really bad sin? He didn't do anything too naughty, just blessed the DJ and stuff...He also says he'll never do it again cos he's a bit older and wiser now. Ah, so you mean you didn't end up simulating some debaucherous acts on a balcony (among them sedition, blasphemy and desecration) and ending up wandering around London half-naked?

Certainly not my dear Duchess. A lady friend and I were doing kind deeds and god's work. Why we even attempted to raise the spirit of an old bishop using a very pleasing and I daresay quite exquisite technique. Unfortunately my friend was rather zealous in her administrations and I fear she bit off more than she could chew.
