Francesco Zuccarelli (1702-1788) was an Italian painter who spent 20 years in Venice before moving to England. He became a founding member of the Royal Academy of Arts in London and was elected President of the Venetian Academy.

Francesco Sartorelli (1856-1939) was an Italian painter from Trieste. He switched from medicine to music until health problems forced him to give up the flute. He taught himself how to paint, moved to Venice and exhibited his works in South America.
Lagune (1915)
Hendrick Frans van Lint (1684-1763) was born in Antwerp, his father Pieter was also a painter. Upon his death Hendrick became an art apprentice for a short while before settling down in Rome to paint Italianate landscapes. He took plenty of commissioners from tourists taking the Grand Tour.

Vilhelm Petersen (1812-1880) was a Danish landscape painter, his favourite subjects were small fishing villages and the moorlands of Jutland.

Jan Dirksz Both (1618-1652) was a Dutch painter who contributed to Italiante landscapes in Dutch art.
Southern landscape with a ruin
George Vincent (1796-1832) was a Norwich-born painter of landscapes. Despite marrying the daughter of a wealthy surgeon he landed in debtor's prison, after which his reputation never quite recovered. After 1831 he disappeared, his body was never recovered. He either died in a Bath workhouse or he vanished to escape creditors.

Christian Ernst Bernhard Morgenstern (1805-1867) was an early pioneer of realist landscape painting in Germany. Son of a miniature painter, he settled in Munich making travels through Italy, Norway, Sweden and Russia. His grandson was the poet Christian Otto Joseph Wolfgang Morgenstern.

Homer Watson (1855-1936) was a Canadian landscape artist with little formal training, he later became President of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts. He spent a couple years in England and later had to sell most of his paintings after the Wall Street Crash.
