Supposedly the outbreak numbers in Pennsylvania are expected to peak around April 14th - if the current trajectory is maintained. I suppose I have a couple more weeks to see what will happen. Right now the numbers here are low... but it's strange to see no rush hour traffic on the main roads and not be able to go to any shops apart from the grocery store and feed mill (for the sheep). I'm surprised that PA will peak around Easter. Last I heard, it won't peak in Vermont until the end of April, or the very beginning of May. As of today, we have had 321 cases and 16 deaths. Quite a few cases that I know of -- and I wouldn't be surprised if it is really the majority of cases -- come directly from NYC. A couple fleeing from NYC went up to a B&B in VT, in a town of barely 1,200 people, and both tested positive. The husband died, and I think the wife is in the ICU. I don't even get the mentality of leaving NYC at this point in time. You've been mired in the epicentre of the epidemic in North America for how long now? Just assume you're already infected and stay home. It is beyond selfish to go to a different state to escape the carnage. All the summer houses and the like in VT are already full up of refugees from NYC. I guess the carelessness of the city slickers is what is pushing our peak so far out. The whole province of Quebec has some-4000 cases, and about half of those said cases are right in Montreal. CBC says that about 102.5 people per every 100,000 are sick. We've had 14 deaths in the city. I have no clue when it's supposed to peak here, but our director of public health has very enthusiastically told us to "APLATIT LA COURBE!" (flatten the curve) if we want to avoid a disastrous peak like NYC and Italy are facing.
He's become something of a meme in QC, as you can see.
That's what they are saying so far... I think that in order for us to get our sneak peek of the Corona peak early, we will have to stay on the current trajectory (no licking door knobs in NYC and coming home, etc). The next county over was hit hard with over 700 to our 160 cases... there are a number of people living in this area of PA who commute to NYC, so that may be part of the problem. So I'm trying to think of a fun themed dinner / fancy dress party for October or so... just to have something fun to look forward to!

I'm slowly but surely going crazy here on my hill. One day at the time ...

Anymore I find that I have several very productive days and then have a couple of days where I am MIA... people are calling or messaging me and it's like I've fallen off the grid. I'm not especially depressed or anything like that... just in a weird state of non-communication and borderline catatonic behavior... LOL!
Am I the only one who has this?

You're not the only one, I've been MIA for over two months now. Just can't be productive, except when I'm posting folk costumes in that thread of mine ...

I want to do stuff but then I too just sit at my desk and get distracted by everything.

Restaurants, shops and tourist attractions are begining to reopen, how long they'll stay open and whether all the shops are replaced by facemask sellers only time will tell....

I was at the feed mill getting sheep feed and salt licks for the horses ... and no one was wearing a mask (albeit this is out in the land of the Amish, so they may just write it off for the most part).
The other extreme I've encountered are people who are angry at joggers for not wearing masks while outside (we are having a bit of a heat wave, so it seems like wearing a mask and jogging in this heat would be a dangerous combination, honestly) - and a friend who was furious at outdoor restaurant patrons who were not wearing a mask in between taking bites of food, saying that the waiters were being put in danger all so that people could have their 'false sense of normalcy'... I would have thought being outdoors was less dangerous because you aren't stuck in the same enclosed breathing space as a bunch of other people... but I think there are just a lot of angry people at the moment... trying to offset the stress/fear by taking it out on others.

I should probably add that in Pennsylvania, they are now saying that you should wear a face mask *anywhere* outside your home where you can't be 6ft away from others (masks are still mandatory to go into stores, public transport, etc)... so that has tightened up a bit since the state has reopened.
