I've been meaning to watch that series. Now that I'm laid off and bored to tears, now may be the time...

Also dealing with Vietnam, we cannot of course omit The Green Berets (1968). Noble, self-sacrificing American do-gooders (even the con man) win Vietnamese hearts and minds, save the free world, and convince the left-leaning anti-war correspondent of the error of his ways by showing him how the Mekong Delta is just the place to stop international communism. Considering how this movie was released on the heels of Le Duan's "General Offensive" - aka "The Tet Offensive" - a public relations catastrophe for the US which would lead to the fall of the Johnson administration, I do wonder how it was received by the general public. Terrible trailer too.
